Introducing the cherry blossoms you can see at Osaka Castle Park in the order they bloom.

* Locations are indicated by numbers on the Cherry Blossom Map.

  • 1October Cherry

These cherry blossoms bloom slowly, from around October in the autumn to early April in the spring.

  • 2Taiwan Cherry

Starting in early March, these blossoms bloom in a downward-facing, closed bell shape.

  • 3Hachisuka Cherry

Originally located in the Tokushima Castle court, protected by samurai residences, these cherry blossoms have recently spread throughout the country.

  • 4Yoko Cherry

These bloom earlier than the Yoshino cherry, are slightly larger, and have a deeper pink color.

  • 5Weeping Cherry

Both single- and double-flowered varieties can be seen throughout Osaka Castle Park.

  • 6Oshima Cherry

The original ancestor of many horticultural varieties, with white flowers, as well as leaves that sprout at the same time the flowers bloom.

  • 7Jindai Akebono

Disease-resistant, and garnering attention as an alternative cultivar to the Yoshino cherry.

  • 8Yoshino Cherry

The Yoshino cherry is what comes to mind when you think of cherry blossom viewing. It is now the symbol of cherry blossoms in Japan.

  • 9Japanese Sato-zakura Cherry

While there are a lot of different varieties, many are double-flowered, and can be enjoyed from mid-April onward.
